Basel in Hamburg

Lange Nacht der Museen Hamburg

On 22 April 2017, Basel, the city of culture and architecture, will take part in the Long Night of Museums in Hamburg. Basel has been present at the Hamburg event since 2007. This year the city is planning a bigger appearance due to January’s inauguration of the Elbphilharmonie, which was designed by Basel’s Herzog & de Meuron architects. Give-aways and information material relating to the cultural city of and tourist destination Basel will be handed out at a tent on the highly frequented and centrally located Deichtorplatz. Visitors can also have their photo taken against the background of a Basel setting and can take part in an electronic Memory game to win a cultural trip to Basel. Basel’s ‘Annie Goodchild’ jazz band will be among the performers on the stage next to the Basel tent. Aside from its appearance on Deichtorplatz, Basel will also have three information stalls at three Hamburg museums. The official opening of the Long Night of Museums will be attended by official representatives and media representatives from Basel and Hamburg.
