What began before the first match with Coumba Sow's signature came to a conclusion today with the participation of both final teams of the UEFA Women's Euro 2025 and a high-ranking delegation from UEFA: for the fifth and last time, a ball from the ‘Bridge Kick’ art intervention was signed on the Mittlere Brücke. What started as a symbolic kick-off has become a collective statement – supported by all the teams that played in Basel. During the night of 28 to 29 July 2025, the installation will now be gradually dismantled. However, thanks to the many photos taken, it will remain a symbol of the past few weeks.

The final signing was accompanied by a prominent delegation: Martin Kallen, CEO of UEFA Events SA, put his signature alongside that of Virginia Torrecilla. The former international player was flanked by María Suárez, the board member responsible for women's football, and Reyes Belver, director of the women's football department at the Real Federación Española de Fútbol. On the English side, Deborah Dilworth, Head of Women's Football and the ‘Free Lionesses’ at the English Football Supporters' Association, signed the agreement.
The two representatives of the two countries also left a personal message: Torrecilla wrote ‘Por hacer historia en la mejor Eurocopa’ (To make history in the best European Championship), while Dilworth chose ‘We are so proud of our Lionesses’. For Klaus Littmann, the initiator of the art project, this moment exemplifies the idea behind the campaign: ‘The participation of all five teams impressively demonstrates what sport can achieve: bringing people together, regardless of their origin or competition. Respect, encounter, solidarity – that is exactly what football stood for here, far beyond the pitch. My heartfelt thanks go to everyone who was part of it!’
Euro 2016 staging at the airport as part of the overall presentation
Klaus Littmann's ‘Am laufenden Ball’ (On the running ball) campaign at EuroAirport was also part of the overall artistic presentation of the host city of Basel. The airport quickly anchored the Euro 2016 spirit in the arrivals area. The aim was to raise awareness of the tournament among both guests and passengers returning from their summer holidays. And it did so in a playful yet effective way: the footballs on the baggage carousel attracted attention throughout the entire event. They will remain on display until mid-August, inviting visitors to look back on the impressions of this unforgettable month of football.
