Today, Sunday, is already the third match day in Basel, with the Netherlands taking on France. Before kick-off, representatives from both teams visited the Mittlere Brücke to sign one of the five oversized footballs at Klaus Littmann's ‘Bridge Kick’ event. The temporary installation becomes a special meeting place on match days.

The Mittlere Brücke bridge was once again the meeting place for football and art today. At 11.30 a.m., a delegation from the French national team visited Basel's landmark: team manager Jules Wolgust, team doctor Vincent Detaille, press officer Laura Gaudry and physiotherapist Régis Bouyaux. Laura Gaudry signed the ‘match ball’ on behalf of the French team and left a personal message.

At 5 p.m., one hour before the gigantic fan march with several thousand fans set off for the stadium, the Dutch team signed and left a message through Gijs de Jong, general secretary of the Dutch Football Association (KNVB), accompanied by Daniёlle Göbel, event manager at the KNVB. Artist Klaus Littmann and the overall project manager for Host City Basel, Sabine Horvath, welcomed both delegations to the ‘Bridge Kick’.

‘With every new message on the Mittlere Brücke, the spirit of this Women's Euro grows: open, respectful and full of joie de vivre,’ said artist Klaus Littmann about the encounter. He added: ‘As host of the Women's Euro, Basel is showing how much enthusiasm there is for this tournament. Today, the Netherlands and France sent out a strong signal. You can feel it: this tournament is going to be a Swiss summer fairy tale – with great games, full stadiums and peaceful fans. “Bridge Kick” is right at the heart of it all, symbolising diversity and togetherness.’

The five footballs in Klaus Littmann's ‘Bridge Kick’ represent the five matches taking place at St. Jakob Park in Basel. To kick off the tournament, Coumba Sow, Swiss national team player, and Lise Klaveness, president of the Norwegian Football Association, signed the first oversized football on the bridge. On Tuesday, ahead of the match between Germany and Denmark, the second football was signed by Ms Mammitzsch, head of the German team delegation, and Mads Magaard, event manager for the Danish delegation.
