Grants for international cooperation programmes
Programme grants strengthen overarching, long-term initiatives of not-for-profit organisations working in international cooperation. Through programme grants, the Canton of Basel-Stadt supports the effectiveness and innovative capacity of strategically relevant organisations headquartered in the Basel region.

Funding procedure
Process | Description |

Submission deadline | 1 March 2026 Programme proposals must be submitted via email by the submission deadline. The minimum requirements and assessment criteria for programme grants must be observed. We recommend that you contact us before the submission deadline to receive a non-binding assessment and to clarify any open questions. |
Preliminary review | All submitted programme proposals are assessed against the minimum requirements. Missing documents may be submitted within a grace period of five working days. |
Substantive assessment | After the preliminary review, the proposal is forwarded to the Commission for International Cooperation for substantive assessment. The Commission evaluates the proposals and formulates a recommendation to the Government of the Canton of Basel-Stadt. The evaluation is based on the following criteria: relevance, impact orientation, efficiency, sustainability and transparency. |
Funding decision | Depending on the size of the grant, the funding decision is issued 2 to 4 months after the submission deadline. Applicant organisations will be informed in writing. |
