After FC Basel was crowned football champions of the 2024/25 season following the final whistle in Geneva, the entire Barfüsserplatz square quickly filled up, stretching all the way to Kohlenberg and Steinenberg. When the FC Basel players appeared on the balcony to greet their fans at around 8.30 p.m., several thousand football fans were in attendance.

The celebrations were peaceful and there were no significant incidents. Public transport in the city centre had to be suspended due to the large crowds of fans.

The Basel-Stadt ambulance service responded to around ten calls in connection with the championship celebrations and was assisted by the police in dealing with the crowds. The Basel-Stadt fire brigade was called to Steinenvorstadt in response to a fire alarm. However, this was a false alarm caused by heavy smoke from fireworks.
