During the Eurovision Song Contest, the bicantonal emergency services organization also wants to enable FCB to hold a spontaneous championship celebration on Sunday, May 11, 2025, starting at around 8:30 p.m. on Barfüsserplatz. The police have taken all necessary precautions to ensure a peaceful championship celebration and appeals to FCB and ESC fans to show consideration for one another.

However, there will be restrictions on public and private transport around Barfüsserplatz in connection with this celebration. If safe passage is no longer possible due to the large crowds, the Basler Verkehrsbetriebe will divert tram services in consultation with the police. Residents and delivery services should expect possible detours, which may cause delays.

The police are aware that these restrictions may cause additional inconvenience. However, the emergency services will endeavor to ensure the safety of visitors and to enable road users to travel as freely and safely as possible.

The cantonal video regulations approved by the data protection officer in accordance with § 17 IDG do not provide for the use of cameras in public spaces for events such as a championship celebration. For this reason, the overall operations management of the emergency organization has decided to temporarily dismantle the camera mast on Barfüsserplatz. After the championship celebration, however, the camera will be put back into operation as before.
